The Official AmPav Listing!
(The American Pavilion at Cannes - This is where I’ll be hanging out in May! AGH!!) It’s been so busy the past few days that I haven’t had a chance to post this very exciting nugget - the official listing for the screening that is my whole reason for going to Cannes in the first place!  They’ve narrowed down our possible screening dates to May 22, 23, or 24.  And...

I Had A Dream About Zac Efron
(The Paperboy, official selection of the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.  I will not be mad if I run into this guy on the Palais) I swear to God, I really had a dream about Zac Efron two nights ago.  I’m in Costa Mesa staying in a semi sketchy motel because I’m attending the Newport Beach Film Festival this weekend - my short film, THE DIRECTOR, screens tonight at 8 pm.   In my...

Have You Met The Jury?
Meet the jury of the 65th Festival de Cannes!  I love that it’s half men, half women. That wasn’t too painful, was it? Emmanuelle Devos (French actress) Jean Paul Gaultier (French designer) Andrea Arnold (British director and scriptwriter) Ewan McGregor (British actor) Hiam Abbass (Palestinian actress, director) Raoul Peck (Haitian director, scriptwriter and producer)  Diane...

I hope this means Marty will be in Cannes! womensweardaily: Gucci has teamed up with Martin Scorsese’s Film Foundation for the restoration of another masterpiece of cinema. Whew- Newsletter Done!
Busy day running around Southern California today (Tues) for the day job, but thankfully I was able to get my newsletter out before getting on the road.  In case you missed it, you can take a look here.  I use MailChimp to manage my list and design my emails.  It’s a pretty user-friendly program and it’s free if your list is under a certain size.  Let’s just say, my petite list...

I Really Dislike Mondays
I usually dislike Mondays not so much because it’s the beginning of a work week, but because it’s the end of a weekend where I could have been a LOT more productive.  It’s so nice to have those giant blocks of time to tackle projects, but that’s over now— it’s Monday!  Ugh. My to-do list still has about 80-90 things on it and my apartment is just as dirty as it...

Wardrobe Purchases #2-20?!
I was maybe a little bit bad last night.  I got so excited about how well my Yumi Kim purchase went that I decided to do a little more online shopping.  Ideeli called my name and the rest is history… Although I got some really good deals, that’s pretty much it for my wardrobe budget.  OK, I did’t really have a wardrobe budget, but it’s still a dumb move since most of the...

Wardrobe Purchase #1!
So, the other day I was worrying once again about what I’m going to wear in Cannes.   Knowing that my black and brown army of polyester work dresses isn’t going to cut it, I turned to my 25 year old straight male assistant and asked for his advice.   He says, “A scarf fixes everything!  Right?”  Good point (which I will note for future fashion emergencies) but I don’t...

It Started to Feel Real This Week
Even though I’ve been stressing about it for the two weeks since I found out about getting into the Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at Cannes, it still felt like a dream.  Yeah, I was a bit skeptical that it was all going to happen.  Sure, I’m going to be screening in a showcase at The American Pavilion.  Sure, my film is also going to be part of The Short Film Corner (aka, Cannes Court...

Why "UnGlam?"
It refers to my style and how it’s in stark contrast to what I assume is “de rigueur” on the French Riviera…aren’t I fancy enough just using that term? What style?  I really don’t have a style.  I stopped reading fashion mags regularly years ago because I didn’t have the money to keep up with all the things they told me I needed to buy.  Plus, I didn’t...

I'm new here.
Hi.  Just wanted to let you know that I’m very new to Tumblr.  Apologies if things are a little messy around here at first, I’m still experimenting with all the knobs and doodads.  Even though I tend to be a pretty web savvy person, Tumblr is not totally clear to me.  For example, I’d love to reply to my very first comment/answer, but I can’t figure out how.  Any ideas?...

Cannes Announced Official Selections Today →
Hmmm, maybe my eyes are failing me, but I don’t see many women directors on that list.  Must be a mistake…right? I guess the good news is that it makes my short film a little more timely (since it’s about women directors).  But I’ll be honest, I’d rather see more women on that list!
